Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy & Its Transformative Power with Lacie Hamilton, LMP

Diving into the transformative realm of Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP), the Suburban Burnout podcast ventures into an insightful dialogue with licensed trauma therapist, Lacie Hamilton. Specializing in KAP, Lacie shares her journey, from a pre-law dropout propelled by her traumatic past to becoming a beacon of healing in the mental health field.

Lacie's personal narrative is both harrowing and inspiring. Shaped by childhood trauma and eventual emergence from crisis through therapy, she found her calling in helping others navigate similar journeys. Initially drawn to crisis intervention in psychiatric hospitals, Lacie later discovered her niche in private practice, centered on KAP. Despite initial skepticism, Lacie's immersion in research solidified her belief in the profound efficacy of ketamine in psychotherapeutic settings. She has witnessed firsthand how ketamine can facilitate an extensive amount of trauma work in a remarkably short period.

Ketamine, often stigmatized by its association with veterinary or recreational use, is spotlighted for its remarkable safety profile and its capacity to induce neuroplasticity—the brain's ability to rewire itself. With KAP, a spectrum of mental health challenges, from trauma and depression to addiction and OCD, finds a promising avenue for healing.

The mechanics of a KAP session unfold as a structured yet profoundly transformative process. Precursory fasting mitigates potential side effects, setting the stage for a comprehensive 2.5-hour session. Beginning with intention-setting talk therapy, followed by ketamine administration and the ensuing experiential phase, sessions conclude with integration and preparation for re-entry into everyday life.

Looking ahead, Lacie envisions a landscape where FDA-approved psychedelics like MDMA and psilocybin join the therapeutic arsenal, expanding treatment options and precipitating neural healing.

For those seeking further exploration or considering KAP, the Suburban Burnout podcast offers an invaluable resource. Additionally, Lacie's practice at Blossom Ketamine in Bee Cave, TX and her collaboration with Innerwell provide accessible avenues for those embarking on their healing journey. Tune in to this illuminating episode of Suburban Burnout to delve deeper into the transformative potential of KAP, and take a step toward healing with Lacie's guidance.
