In this episode of Suburban Burnout, Megan and Laura dive into the colorful world of interior design with the incredible Jenna Zielbauer, the mastermind behind the award-winning design firm, Coveted Haus.
Jenna hails from Chicago, IL, and proudly proclaims she is a "City Rat" through and through. But in true Jenna style, she started asking big questions about her family's future and ultimately decided to redesign their life in the suburbs of Austin, TX. It was all sunshine and rainbows until COVID came to town and once again, Jenna, and her husband PJ, started asking questions about what they wanted out of life. So, while stuck in the suburbs during quarantine, a new plan was hatched. Through the magic of question-asking, Jenna and PJ decided they wanted land to raise livestock, cultivate an organic garden, and teach their kids the art of homesteading. Say hello to Diamond Haus Ranch. But don't let the word "Ranch" fool you – Jenna sprinkled her signature flair in every nook and cranny of this hotel-inspired home.
Jenna's mantra of living a well-designed life is evidenced by this chain reaction. She believes that you have to keep asking yourself questions about what you want out of life because people and circumstances are constantly changing. What worked for you at one point in your life, might not be working for you now. Know what you want out of life and make it your reality.
Jenna's home designs aren't the only thing worth admiring. Her "don't take no for an answer" attitude and her fashion sense are equally praiseworthy. In a world where women are often labeled as either docile or pushy, Jenna proudly owns the "pushy" title. She believes that when you've got your eyes on a goal, you keep going until you reach it. She's the change instigator in her house, and her advice is to plant those seeds of change and keep asking until someone says "yes." It's this unstoppable spirit that's driven her business to success.
But what inspires this vibrant designer's fashion choices and design style? Jenna's all about standing out and embracing uniqueness. It started with her 90s grunge phase, borrowing items from her step-father's closet. Those ideals have stuck with her, and now she wears what brings her joy and feels authentic. When it comes to home design, she's all about understanding her clients' life stages and priorities. By asking the right questions, the end result is a space that's not only visually appealing but also tackles those pesky pain points. Jenna draws inspiration from her travels and the lavish vibes of luxury hotels.
Beyond the glitz and glam, Jenna's design heart beats for clutter-free spaces. She firmly believes that our environment shapes who we are, and a cluttered home can hinder our optimal functioning. But that's not the only trick up her sleeve. Jenna's love for entertaining takes hosting to the next level. She transforms the art of hosting into a carefully crafted experience, down to the last detail. So, if you're looking to banish your hosting anxieties and simultaneously transform your space, make sure you don't miss Jenna's expert tips for maintaining a clutter-free home and becoming the ultimate party-planning extraordinaire.

Meet Our Guest:
Jenna Zielbauer, mother of 2, hails from Chicago, where she met and married her husband of 12 years, Patrick. The 2 of them, along with Maxi, their firstborn, found their way to the Austin area in 2017 through a series of unlikely connections and events. Shortly after their second child, Axe, was born, they made their way to Dripping Springs, a semi-rural town where they built their ranchette.
Jenna owns and operates an award-winning design firm, Coveted Haus, a high-end interior design business with a diverse residential and commercial clientele. One to keep herself busy, she founded the "Diamond Haus Ranch" brand, a moniker that has been applied to her family's property in Dripping Springs, which is now inhabited by a cohort of cattle, Icelandic sheep, chickens, and Great Pyrenees ranch dogs, along with local wildlife.
